Donald at the Bat – Day 1177, Flattening the Curve (parody to ‘Bringing in the Sheaves’)

Day 1177, Flattening the Curve (1)

Sowing seeds of illness, COVID 19’s spreading,

Spread is exponential, morning, noon, and eve.

While we wait for vaccines, better drugs for treatment,

Practice social distance, or else more will grieve.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

We are seeing signs of flattening the curve.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

Social distancing will flatten out the curve.

Testing antibodies, which confirm exposure,

And they mean resistance; scientists believe.

When we are resistant, we’ll resume our labors,

COVID 19 neutered, no one else will grieve.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

We are seeing signs of flattening the curve.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

When we are resistant, we will squash the curve.

When we get a vaccine, we can stop the virus.

Vaccines will protect us, granting a reprieve.

Tell the anti-vaxxers they are full of feces,

When we have a vaccine, no more souls will leave.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

Buying time ‘til vaccines, flattening the curve.

Flattening the curve, flattening the curve,

Social distancing will flatten out the curve.

(1)  May be sung to “Bringing In the Sheaves,” lyric by Knowles Shaw (1874) and most commonly used melody by George Minor (1880.)

My favorite recording is by Tennessee Ernie Ford.  It’s on YouTube.
