April 3, Held to Account  (parody to “Old, Rugged Cross”)

April 3, Held to Account  (1)

In Manhattan, Tuesday, Alvin Bragg, the DA

Will hold Donald Trump to account.

Donald Trump may do time for his lifestyle of crime,

We’re expecting indictments to mount.

Finally Trump is held to account

And we may see indictments expand,

State and federal, count upon count,

As the feces are finally fanned.

It’s the blacks and the Jews that the Trumpists all use

As reasons for Donald Trump’s woes.

Threatening violence, even hanging Mike Pence,

Nazi history tells how this goes.

But now Donald is held to account

And we think more indictments will come.

State and federal, count upon count,

May mount to an unpayable sum.

As we watch them accrue, allegations, if true,

Are coffin nails in Donald’s brand.

Sycophants, QAnon, they will rave on and on,

But this may be the Donald’s last stand.

For now Donald is held to account.

For his crimes he’ll at last be brought down.

State and federal, count upon count.

Alvin Bragg has just knocked off Trump’s crown.

Once more, Soros is named; for Trump’s tsuris, he’s blamed, (2)

Anti Semites say Soros funds Bragg.

Blaming Jews and the Blacks: these are standard attacks

Every time Donald Trump hits a snag.

But now Donald is held to account,

And we may see indictments expand.

State and federal, count upon count,

As the feces are finally fanned.

  • May be sung to “The Old, Rugged Cross.” (1912-1913), lyrics by George Bennard, a Methodist minister, music by Bennard and Charles H. Gabriel. It has been recorded many, many times since the first recording in 1921.  Pick your favorite on YouTube.

  • I’m aware of the near rhyme of the Yiddish word, tsuris, and the last name of George Soros, a Jewish, liberal, billionaire, frequently maligned by Trumpists. Tsuris, sometimes transliterated, tsoris, means aggravating troubles.
