April 5, The Four Horsemen

April 5, The Four Horsemen

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,

Hawley, and Cotton, and Graham, and Cruz,

Grievance and fantasy dripped from their lips;

If they won their fight, our nation would lose.

The famine, the plague, the wild beast, the sword, (1)

You pick the men best described by these terms.

They’re spreading disease we can ill afford.

The illness, bigotry: these men, the germs.

Collins, Murkowsky, and Romney stood fast

Against the venom spit out by the Right.

This isn’t the first; it won’t be the last

Of poisons spreading from Donald Trump’s blight.

Ketanji Brown Jackson will join the Court.

The Democrats told the Four Horsemen, “Whoa,”

With three Republicans, pulled them up short,

After the charge these four put on for show.

Hawley and Cotton and Graham and Cruz,

Running for President in ’24.

Which of these four will the GOP choose?

You can be sure there’ll be blood on the floor.

They used the hearings so they could expose

Their character flaws to Donald Trump’s base.

Who’s the most rotten?  Well, God only knows

But most think Ted Cruz belongs in first place.

  • In the Book of Ezekiel, the Four Horsemen are identified as “sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague. Other Biblical books, including the New Testament, identify them somewhat differently.
