How beautiful and strong are Donald’s men,
Displacing women in his sentiments. (2)
He has no use for laws or parliaments,
Just handsome, loyal men, who’ll say, “amen.”
To Donald, the ideal specimen,
Will tolerate his oral flatulence,
And serve him like his golden ornaments,
And be no threat to steal his oxygen.
Turnover that we’ve seen in Donald’s team,
By now, no longer should be a surprise.
His bleached blonde bimbos, (Donald’s standard taste,)
Yield to strong men who have earned Trump’s esteem
By being willing to repeat his lies,
And not wince at their bitter aftertaste.
The Switch From A’s and T’s
But why has Donald switched from A’s and T’s
To emphasize the beauty of the male?
For, daily, while he’s on the campaign trail, (3)
He praises strong men like they’re deities.
Of course, such men pledge one-way loyalties
To Donald; (loyalty’s his Holy Grail.)
They dare not fail, for Donald will impale
Their heads on pikes, like ancient penalties.
No more bleached blondes with low testosterone.
For Trump has cast his lot with “High T” Pete (4)
And also with the shirtless Vladimir. (5)
Does Trump praise strength because his own has flown?
When that’s uncovered, does he risk defeat,
When MAGAs all learn he’s a racketeer?
Michelangelo’s “David,” the Ideal Male Ass
The “David,” carved by Michelangelo,
His gorgeous, youthful ass, now on display,
Attracts thousands of viewers every day, (6)
Its polished marble gives a fetching glow.
We’ve watched Trump’s interest in men’s asses grow.
Some wonder “sotto voce,” is Trump gay?
“Dear Lord, please, no,” his MAGA Christians pray.
But, is such speculation apropos?
Now, Senator John Husted’s in the news.
Trump tells us he’s examined John’s behind.
And can’t stop thinking of his manly form.
Would Husted pose as “David” or refuse?
The thought is occupying Donald’s mind.
As Trump’s ideal, is John’s ass the new norm?
New Criteria for Rating Politicians
Should we rate politicians by their ass?
Not their intelligence but their physique?
As would an ancient Roman or a Greek?
A new criterion for ruling class….
Let no one say that Trump is being crass.
Admiring bodies, muscular and sleek,
And fascinated by a well-formed cheek,
Not dominated by the price of gas.
Nude statues showing who has grown a pair
May show us classic values are not lost.
Who knew that Trump appreciated art?
That a male form would make him stop and stare?
Though ridiculed, that he would bear the cost?
What lessons should Trump’s change of heart impart?
Notes
(1) This poem, asking if Trump is reviving classical interests, is in the form of
four Petrarchan Sonnets, a fourteen line form popular in Medieval and
Renaissance Italy. The typical rhyme scheme is abba, abba, cde, cde.
(2) Trump has taken to praising the physical appearance of some male
Republican candidates in the current election.
(3) This fascination has come up more than once in the past week.
(4) Pete Hegseth has championed a campaign to test all members of the
military for their testosterone levels and supplement those he deems “low.”
(5) There is a picture on the internet of Vladimir Putin, shirtless, riding a horse
out on the Russian steppe. There is no foundation to the rumor that Trump
has this picture in his bedroom.
(6) In the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze (Florence) Italy.
