May 4, The Shit Just Hit the Fan

 

Alito’s words, like shit, have now been fanned.

It looks like all abortion may be fanned,

At least in all the states that we call, “Red,”

As the predicted stench spreads through the land. (1)

They’ve passed a “trigger law,” once Roe is dead.

That takes away a woman’s right to choose.

Their legislatures will decide instead.

 

If Red State women lose their right to choose,

Will what was once a smoking, smoldering fuse,

Explode into a war for civil rights,

As Trumpists search for more groups to abuse?

 

If there’s another war for civil rights,

Will it be waged in court or in gunfights?

Emotions that are strained burst into flame;

Who knows what else such civil war ignites?
