May 12, Driving While Pregnant

 

We’ve all been acquainted with “DWB.”   (pronounced: “D Dubya B”) (1)

Will there be a new offense, “DWP?”

That’s “Driving While Pregnant,” and crossing state lines.

Because you are pregnant and don’t want to be.

 

If “Driving While Pregnant,” approaching state lines,

You may notice Red States erect warning signs:

“To have an abortion is like homicide;

“You risk prison time or must pay hefty fines.”

 

To have an abortion is like homicide,

But only in Red States; it’s not nationwide.

Blue States will provide them, if you can get there.

But traveling to Blue States: Red States won’t abide.

 

Blue States do abortions, if you can get there.

But women near borders know they must beware.

They might be pulled over by Red State police

And asked at the border, “What will you do there?”

 

Young women pulled over by Red State police,

Especially if black, know it might be caprice.

Or cops want to see if your belly looks round

And make you explain that you’re simply obese.

 

So, if you are driving and belly looks round,

And you get pulled over and asked where you’re bound,

Then you’ll have experienced “DWP,”

As your civil rights are becoming unwound.
