Isn’t This Sedition?

Trump’s filed another lawsuit but that’s not the biggest news.
The big news is the “settlement,” that’s basically a ruse
(Of one point seven billion bucks) that Trump can use to pay
Supporters for their violence on Insurrection Day. (1)

Some sixteen hundred insurrectionists were tried and jailed. (2)
But Donald Trump has pardoned them and ranted, wailed and railed
Against Joe Biden and the laws that Trumpists broke that day.
Though Capitol Policemen died, “So what?” Trump seems to say.

Now Donald wants to pay his rioters for loyalty
And use taxpayers’ money heisted from the Treasury.
The meaning: break the law for Trump and get a cash reward,
(And even for sedition) it will pay to join his horde.

But, isn’t this sedition too, if Donald pays the bill,
With money swiped from you and me out of the public till?
And, isn’t that impeachable? His motive seems quite clear.
Make Donald Trump dictator and you’ll have no cause to fear.

You don’t have to be competent or good at anything,
Except for praising Donald; he expects to hear you sing.
Trump wishes to be kowtowed to, like Putin, Xi, and Kim.
For Trump’s a “jealous god;” and you must worship only him. (3)

Trump is the Constitution now; forget about the courts.
No one can put a limit on the money he extorts.
He’ll spend our funds as he sees fit and sees no need for bids, (4)
Envisioning a world controlled by himself and his kids.

But now reread the Bible: Moses and the Golden Calf.
Recall the ancient adage: A man strives and the gods laugh.
For Moses made the Israelites all drink their idol’s dust. (5)
And no god looks with favor on a life controlled by lust.

(1) January 6, 2020, when a Trump inspired mob stormed the Capitol, trying to
overturn Trump’s election loss to Joe Biden.
(2) The Biden administration indicted, tried, and convicted 1,600
insurrectionists. Trump pardoned them all.
(3) See Exodus 34:14 for the origin of this concept.
(4) Trump gave a no bid contract to paint the reflecting pool to someone who
had worked for him previously. The cost is way over budget.
