December 24, Holidays

It’s time to eat and drink and celebrate,
Though some take time to pray and contemplate,
While some eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve,
And atheists get drunk and copulate.

The Winter Solstice Season’s underway,
So, pick a god and pick a holiday
To eat and drink too much and celebrate,
Don gay apparel and be bright and gay.

If you eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve,
You’re likely to be Jewish, I believe.
All other venues closed might spoil your mood.
But Chinese food is great, no cause to grieve.

Although most venues closed might spoil your mood,
There is no cause to just stay home and brood.
If it’s still Hanukkah, burn candles bright,
And then you can go out for Chinese food.

All homes are decorated; lights are bright,
Most red and green, though some are blue and white.
Though lots of gods were born on Christmas Day,
It’s only Jesus that the Christians cite.

Since lots of gods were born on Christmas Day,
And so was Isaac Newton, by the way,
We all can find a cause to celebrate,
Although December days are cold and gray.
