Donald Trump’s in love with tariffs, (more than with Kim Jong Un.)
Don’t be surprised; a narcissist would sing the tariff tune.
A tariff may be levied by the president alone.
There’s no advice and no consent, just edicts from the throne.
Trump may or may not understand inflation will result.
He thinks it’s more important that there’s no need to consult.
Trump was no stellar student (and he won’t release his grades,)
But lack of knowledge never stopped the Donald’s escapades.
Ignoring deals he made with Canada and Mexico, (1)
He’ll now hit them with tariffs; (Donald, Il Magnifico.) (2)
All those who’ve signed a contract with the Donald in the past,
Could have forewarned our neighbors that contracts with Trump won’t last.
For Donald Trump, America (that’s Donald Trump) is first.
So past agreements that don’t slake the Donald’s power thirst
Must be revised so Donald gets more power than before.
So, he’ll slap tariffs on their goods. That’s ancient Trumpist lore.
It’s not free trade; it’s not good business; prices will go up.
Trump’s economic knowledge makes professors go throw up.
Recall the wall that Mexico did not build or pay for…
Will we see tariffs back and forth; will we see a trade war?
While Trump is playing golf and hitting his drives in the rough,
One wonders, when will ardent Trumpists ever cry, “Enough!?
They had supported Trump because our prices were too high;
Now Trump will drive them higher for most everything we buy.
Could this all be just bluster? Trump is well-known for BS.
It could be narcissism or a gambit in Trump chess.
The lure of making a big splash, we know Trump can’t resist.
Does Trump’s brain have a dead worm just like RFK’s brain cyst?
Has Donald Trump shown his raised middle finger to us all?
(Appointees for all health and science posts, a clarion call.)
Together with the tariff threats, Trump says, “I’m number one.”
And, flipping us the bird is Donald’s way of having fun.
