August 14, Believing Stupid Things

We know that people may believe some really silly things:
Supporting Donald Trump and thinking that we should have kings
Means throwing in the towel, giving up democracy,
For theocrats and plutocrats and Trump’s autocracy.

Robust democracy requires devotion, constant care,
And study to be well-informed and keep elections fair.
Perhaps what Trumpists do not want is doing mental work.
It’s easier supporting Trump, though he’s a sexist jerk.

Americans must ask themselves, “Who really cares for me?”
It isn’t Trump; for average folks, he shares no bonhomie.
So, if we try a monarchy, how will our lot improve?
World history says it will not, what reams of data prove.

Since ignorance is easier than study to inform,
For theocrats and bigots, ignorance becomes the norm.
A monarchy is easier; do what the king decrees.
You do not have to think or work; brains go in the deep freeze.

Now Donald is obsessing over Kamala’s crowd size,
Asserting numbers fraudulent, that A.I. helped disguise.
That shows how Trump hallucinates, for popularity
Assuages narcissism but promotes fatuity.

Now Donald Trump has told us of a helicopter crash,
Wrong place, wrong time, wrong passengers, so naturally, backlash.
He’s sticking with his story, although he is clearly wrong,
One more stupidity where Trumpists have to sing along.

And Donald Trump is claiming that he’s never ever heard
Of Project 2025. (It’s polling like a turd.)
It was to serve as Donald’s plan to change our government.
But now he shuns it like it is a pile of excrement.

And, every time Trump speaks, we all can see his mental state,
Which shows that he is quite unfit to be a Head of State.
Though he’s the infirm, old fart running, MAGAts still ignore
That he’s much worse than Biden, plus he’s rotten to the core.
