Trump’s Week in Court

Since Trump was found guilty of sexual abuse,
And our highest court will not hear his appeal,
It means, Donald Trump does not have an excuse
And must pay five million for Carroll’s ordeal. (1)

Trump bragged about women, how he assaults them.
Then E. Jean Carroll charged, “He did it to me.”
A jury said, “Guilty.” The flam and the flim
He’ll post can’t erase Donald Trump’s infamy.

Best be on guard, Haitians; you can be expelled.
In spite of the racism Donald Trump showed,
Ignoring plain facts, our Supreme Court has held
That Donald can tell these black folks, “Hit the road.”

They came for asylum from poverty, crime
The Bible commands us that we should protect
These strangers because we should think of the time
We were strangers ourselves, a plight to respect. (2)

Beware, civil servants, don’t raise Donald’s ire
He’s been made a boss one must scramble to please.
For in every agency, Donald may fire
Whomever he pleases, all its employees.

The Fourteenth Amendment makes clear, by birthright,
That you are a citizen if you’re born here.
Your skin may be dark or your skin may be light.
(But only six judges said it’s crystal clear.) (3)

Though Donald lost that one, here’s one that he won.
We’ll have government of, by, and for the rich. (4)
Does that mean democracy might come undone?
Do you feel your hemorrhoids starting to itch?

(1) Trump was convicted of the sexual abuse of E. Jean Carroll, who sued for
five million dollars and won her case in New York in 2023.
(2) Exodus 22: 20 and 23: 9. This commandment is repeated in one form or
another 52 times in the Torah and was also quoted by Jesus: Matthew 25:35
(3) Three justices apparently thought that the Fourteenth Amendment was just
kidding. Read it yourself.
(4) The Court lifted limits on campaign contributions.
