Most southern states oppose Black voting rights.
Their gerrymandered districts favor whites.
They’ve resurrected Jim Crow from the grave,
As racial bigotry once more ignites.
But is white dominance worthwhile to save,
As we hear bigots (and some preachers) rave?
Is there a Destiny that’s Manifest,
Commanding us to be half free, half slave?
The germs of bigotry that still infest
The voters in Red states from East to West,
Make them believe white, European skin,
Is somehow, by their God, uniquely blessed.
Should those of us who can’t make melanin
Rig voting districts so we always win?
Genes ninety nine point nine percent the same.
Is white supremacy a mortal sin?
White Christian nationhood’s a power game,
As some officials lust for wealth and fame.
Do the best leaders want to serve or rule?
Or care how history will view their name?
The leaders who use power as a tool
For self-enrichment know they have to fool
Enough of those whom they will cast aside
And don’t mind if their leadership is cruel.
Is our republic risking suicide
If some of us have voting rights denied?
And we let lust for power be our guide?
And Jim Crow gets to stand by Jesus’ side?
