Go Back Where You Came From (1)

We started as a singularity and then a bang! (2)
Just energy expanding (and no choirs of angels sang.)

Then hydrogen and helium which, due to gravity,
Collapsed to stars which made new atoms, whose complexity
Eventually would lead to interstellar chemistry.
And most new stars had planets, sometimes warm and watery,
So, building blocks of life arose throughout the galaxy,
Which, here on Earth, became abundant in our salty sea.

Complex organic chemistry led to biology,
Nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, then in synergy:
Prokaryotes, eukaryotes, microbiology.
Varieties increased to make complex zoology.
And, out of this, in Africa, rose anthropology.

Then, from East Africa, Homo migrated far and wide. (3)
To Europe, Asia, the Americas, without a guide.
Eventually we filled the lands and islands in the sea.
Migrating is our nature, study history, you will see.

From this abbreviated history of whence we came,
And genes that show we’re ninety nine point nine percent the same,
When Donald tells Ilan Omar, “Go back where you came from,”
He’s showing that he’s ignorant of whence all Homos come,
The Homo species first evolved back in East Africa:
In Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia.

We all have roots in Africa, recent or long ago,
To go back where we came from, that is where we all would go.

(1)Donald Trump, in one of his recent, progressively unhinged, rants after
waking from his nap in a Cabinet meeting, called Congresswoman Ilan
Omar, D, Minnesota, “Garbage, who should go back to where she
came from.” (Somalia) He added, “We don’t need these people.”
(2)A singularity is an infinitely small point which cannot be further
defined. In Genesis, God started with something that was “without
form and void,” the English translation of the Hebrew, “Tohu v bohu.”
Note: both modern and ancient creation stories do not start with
nothing. Instead, the starting material is undefinable.
(3)First Homo erectus, perhaps a million years ago, then Homo sapiens,
about fifty to one hundred thousand years ago. Migration continues.
