We saw Donald angered when he went to church,
When asked to show mercy to migrants and kids.
Yes, how dare a Bishop, by asking, besmirch (1)
Reverence for Donald, which his ego forbids?

Yes, how dare a Christian ask Trump such a thing?
Asylum and mercy, and not cruelty?
Is Christ or is Donald America’s king?
To whom does a Christian owe her fealty?

But Donald took umbrage and sent out a tweet
Demanding apology for disrespect.
Could someone like Trump, with his lengthy rap sheet,
Perhaps have some deep-seated psyche defect?

Trump says violent migrants should be expelled,
Replaced with the criminals he just let out.
Trump’s insurrectionists are no longer held,
Cop-beaters, loyalty to Trump not in doubt.

All this Christian stuff has left Donald annoyed.
Haven’t we learned yet that Trump doesn’t do “nice?”
His “private militia” may now be employed
To threaten officials who won’t work with ICE.

So, should Bishop Budde now apologize
For asking, in church, that Trump be more humane?
If Trump takes offense when asked to humanize,
Then, isn’t there something he needs to explain?
