Hegseth’s “High T” military (1)
Ought to make our nation wary, (2)
Hegseth desires lethality.
No room for calm docility.
No low T intellectuals,
Non lethal, ineffectuals,
No room for such ability.
Now, here’s some more reality.
Think of poor spermatozoa…
Too much T means sad, “aloha.” (3)
Such men may lose fertility
While they increase brutality.
Excess T may cause wife beating
Or lead to unfaithful cheating.
Exposing immorality
Sometimes leads to fatality.
Then, of course, increased aggression
Is a known “High T” progression,
Increasing probability
Of nasty incivility.
And, consider prostate cancer.
“High T” is a known enhancer,
Of elderly mortality,
An old man’s liability.
Should testosterone enhancement
Lead to soldiers’ rank advancement?
Or hinder capability,
Decreasing brain agility?
(1) Secretary Hegseth wants to institute routine testing of testosterone levels
and require supplementation for those whom he deems “low.”
Testosterone levels vary considerably in men and women. Depending on
age, the “normal” range in men, depending on methodology, is about
300-1000 ng/dl. In pre and postmenopausal females it is about 10-50
ng/dl. Notice the wide variation in both males and females.
(2) As males age, and presumably gain experience and wisdom, their “normal
testosterone” levels decrease. Might some of the rash behavior of young
men be due to “high T”?
(3) An unexpected toxicity of very high testosterone levels is decreased
spermatogenesis.
