Incompetence and Corruption

Trump’s showing us incompetence like never seen before.
You think you’ve seen corruption? Donald shows us ever more.
As someone, somewhere, sometime said, “You ain’t heard nuthin’ yet.” (1)
He’ll lower ethics standards further; on that you can bet.

Vlad Putin’s making money now that Trump’s attacked Iran.
For Russian oil’s more valuable; seems almost like a plan.
Would you believe Iranians are making money too?
Trump stopped our oil embargo. Why? We haven’t got a clue.

Meanwhile, Iran continues to attack its neighbor states.
Stock markets sink; gas prices surge; and chaos propagates.
The Strait of Hormuz has been closed, which Trump was warned about.
But Trump disdains expert advice, disdain he likes to flout.

Trump tells us NATO countries should be coming to our aid.
And this, in spite of all insulting comments he has made.
He did not tell our allies before starting his attack.
And, though he now needs help, he will not take his insults back.

The mighty Persian Empire once controlled the Middle East. (2)
Ambition to control again has really never ceased.
Control of territory and religions was achieved.
The questions all remain today and everyone’s aggrieved.

Now Donald’s coaxed a roaring fire out of these glowing coals,
A roaring fire, although without some clearly stated goals.
All ancient tensions still exist, although the gods have changed.
Now oil and money supersede, the lust for power’s unchanged.

Trump brought this all upon himself and dragged in all of us.
The whole damn world’s in turmoil, all thrown underneath Trump’s bus.
Too bad this isn’t Viet Nam, Trump knew how to get out. (3)
But bone spurs will not work this time. Trump needs another route.

Might Donald Trump now blow a fuse from circuit overload?
Democracy disintegrate, should Donald Trump explode?
Could solar and wind power start displacing oil and gas,
And save us from dependency on gas Trump’s gut will pass?
