Trump In Charge

Some forty million people have been cut off from food aid,
As well as healthcare benefits; they’re losing Medicaid.
The House is not in session since Mike Johnson shut it down.
Republicans won’t give an inch, on orders from the Crown.

And meanwhile, Trump’s in Air Force One and flying here and there.
The mess he’s made with tariffs is in great need of repair.
Our soybean farmers and our ranchers are both getting screwed;
Trump’s market savvy has been proving anything but shrewd.

Nobody thinks that Trump has mastered all the facts in play.
A bull loose in a china shop is how he looks today.
With food assistance, healthcare, trade, there’s chaos everywhere.
And that’s what we expect from Trump, though he says we’re unfair.

This week, we had elections where we got a chance to speak.
The ship of state is floundering; its hull has sprung a leak.
And Donald’s leadership and policies were soundly thrashed,
By Democrats, who just a year ago, saw their hopes dashed.

And then, of course, the troops in cities and the raids by ICE,
Have told blue cities and blue states that Donald won’t play nice.
He’s shown intimidation is a conscious strategy
To seize control; does this mean our republic’s eulogy?

Take food and health care from the poor; give billionaires tax breaks.
Start tariff wars that give all our economists headaches.
Start feuds with Canada and Mexico that make no sense.
Sow chaos everywhere and at the taxpayer’s expense.

Trump’s narcissism on display: we can’t say we weren’t warned.
Contrary to what Donald claims, our country’s widely scorned.
For, all the world’s democracies think Donald Trump’s a putz.
While Xi and Putin play him for a diplomatic klutz.
