Trump now attacks both law firms and the law,
Also attacking universities.
It is as if he sees a common flaw.
What would he see as similarities?

Our laws evolved from old religious texts,
First written down millenia ago.
From god to king, (god’s servant) who directs
What we must do and what we must forgo.

Then gradually, in our democracies,
The people wrote the laws we must obey.
Yet still, throughout the world’s autocracies,
Dictators overrule laws every day.

And that’s what Donald Trump now wants to be,
A dictator, whose word defines the law.
He’ll shackle every university.
Free thought, to autocrats, is the last straw.

And then, of course, there’s science and research
That contradict the falsities he spouts,
(As well as some pronouncements by The Church)
Which, in most graduates, will raise some doubts.

So, Trump’s attacks on universities
And his attacks on judges and the law,
Both manifest these similarities:
They seek objective truth, their common flaw.
