Now Trump has made a bogus finding of emergency,
So, he’s declaring martial law in Washington DC.
He’s calling out the Guard, unlike in his first time at bat,
An insurrection raging then, but Trump approved of that.

Trump pardoned all his rioters, some fifteen hundred crooks.
He said they were all patriots but that’s not how it looks.
They were just thugs but now Trump has the army on his side,
Assaulting our democracy or is it suicide?

Now Trump declares, “Emergency!” But what’s the evidence?
Since crime is down in DC, this does not make any sense.
So there will be court challenges; Trump losses mean appeals.
Meanwhile he’ll “keep on trucking,” as past history reveals.

First, Hitler tried his “Beerhall Putsch,” in nineteen twenty-three.
They threw him in the pokey; after nine months, set him free.
Then he became “Der Fuehrer.” (Donald likes the sound of that.)
He plunged the planet into war, a crazy autocrat.

First partial martial law in LA, now in Washington,
For those who pay attention, Donald Trump is far from done.
He wants to be dictator; he has made that pretty clear.
The Heritage Foundation guys all raise their glass and cheer.

Our would-be autocrat is making his blitzkrieg assault.
Do we, the voters, realize this is our own damn fault?
Will we lose what our Founding Fathers worked so hard to craft,
And denigrate our Constitution with Trump’s grift and graft?

Meanwhile, the ghost of Epstein lurks and haunts Trump, day and night.
Might evidence of pedophilia be brought to light?
The risk for Trump’s not trivial; his base won’t tolerate
The use of younger teen age girls as things to fornicate.

With Trump’s oligo-theo-pluto-kakistocracy,
Some think that this may bring the end of our democracy.
He won’t be here forever but when Donald’s dead and gone,
Will what’s left of our republic get back up and carry on?
