August 25, Trump’s Election Strategy

The Democrats want to attract more voters to their side.
But that’s not Trump’s intention, which he does not try to hide.
Trump says that he won’t need more votes, if Democrats don’t cheat. (1)
(And he maintained they cheated every time that he got beat.)

Republicans in Red States all plan to suppress the vote,
Because they know if all can vote, their votes will sink Trump’s boat.
Denying registration, trimming down the voter rolls,
They’ll have armed men intimidate black voters at the poles.

Once votes are cast and counted, they’ll refuse to certify,
File lawsuits everywhere in hopes the courts might nullify
A close result, because they hope to let confusion rule.
And all of that may serve once more as insurrection fuel.

Trump doesn’t like democracy; it might deny him power.
He’s learned the voters’ taste before; they think that Trump tastes sour.
So, Trump’s convinced that he must cheat, with which he’s comfortable.
With facts and figures, that’s his style; fraud’s quite compatible.

Trump thinks that Congress or the courts may help him win this time.
He is not seeking justice; what Trump really seeks is slime,
Since slime has never bothered Trump, for that describes his life.
Those who examine Donald’s records find that slime is rife.

The battle lines are drawn for our election in the Fall.
Will votes produce the winner, or can Trump corrupt it all?
He’s told us that he doesn’t need more votes to help him win.
He’s shown us how he plans to cheat, and he will go all in. (2)

So, Democrats must gird their loins, not just to win the vote,
But also, for court challenges, their legal antidote
To all the cases Trump will file, as he has done before.
Can Trump defeat democracy? It’s existential war.

(1) Trump said he doesn’t need more votes: Fox News, Thursday, July 25.
(2) On July 28, he also told Christians, that if they vote for him this time, they won’t ever need to vote again. Why not?
